Chicago is a front-runner in “Green” real estate
The state of the environment is not just a major concern among scientists and researchers anymore, but also among builders, architects and real estate agents. Going “green” is a global phenomenon that is rapidly catching on in the U.S.
Chicago seems to be ahead of the game when it comes to environmentalism in the US.
Going green can mean a number of things such as recycling, reducing and reusing trash, using less energy, and minimizing overall pollution.
In the real estate world, going green is the practice of increasing the efficiency with which buildings use resources. The goal is to use as little electricity, water, and building materials as possible, while at the same time trying to reduce a building’s impacts on human health and the environment. This can be accomplished through better design, construction, operation, maintenance, and removal.
More and more green buildings are being built and converted in Chicago because there is an incredibly high demand for them, especially among urban professionals. Constructing a green building, or converting an existing building to green standards increases the value of it greatly in Chicago.
